MINERALOGICAL ASSOCIATION BOOK PRIZE

The Mineralogical Association is offering two book prizes annually to the value of R500-00 each for geology students at any South African university or technikon, who are members of MINSA.

Eligibility:

1. Students must be members of the Mineralogical Association of South Africa.(Membership is free to student members of the Geological Society.)
2. Students from all years of study and recent graduates may apply but they must be majoring in geology.

Criteria:

The awarding of the prizes will be based largely on the student's academic record and on a letter of reference from an academic staff member.

Application:

Application forms will be sent to all student members. They must be submitted before 31 January to the MINSA Secretariat. A photocopy of the student's final marks for the previous academic year should be attached. Please also attach a testimonial from a lecturer as well as a list of books that you would choose if your application is successful.

Presentation:

Book prizes will be presented at the Annual General meeting, which takes place in February.

NOTE: The Mineralogical Association reserves the right not to award either or both prizes in cases of an insufficient number of suitable candidates or for financial constraints.
